Title: Infinite Line Sketches, Haliburton August 2011
Media: Ink pens, drawn from life - mostly sculptures from the Haliburton Sculpture Forest
Notes: I learned how to do these the last day of my weeklong Illustration course in Haliburton this summer. They're not actually "infinite" line but each of these drawings is entirely done with only a single line, the pen never leaves the page until you decide to stop. I think the trick of deciding to stop is either knowing when to quit or simply running out of page! I found it a really helpful technique to loosen up how I draw as I tend to be very detail focused and driven to precision. This process promotes learning to let your eye loosely guide the flow of your pen. You really can't force exactness with it. Instead you start to understand the contours and form of what you're drawing more instinctively since you really can't stop and over-analyze what you're looking at.
